Ayuna Collins was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. She also lived for several years in Arizona, where she had limited access to media, allowing her creativity to blossom and develop naturally. She immersed herself in art and dance throughout her young life and high school.

Just after high school, Ayuna was in a near-fatal car. She had to relearn the basics: movement, reading, writing, art. After a long recovery, she attended Caifornia Institute of the Arts where she was a double major in Dance and Animation. While at CalArts, Ayuna began studying with E. Michael Mitchell.

Ayuna lived, worked and showed her art in Los Angeles for several years, investigating the interplay between her performing and visual arts. She currently attends the San Francisco Art Institute.
